  1. DESQview 2.62 started shipping on December 1, 1993.  Here are the changes from
  2. version 2.61:

  4. DV.EXE:
  5. 1) Added support for multitasking while playing audio CDs.
  6. 2) Fixed bug of needing to do a Mouse Revive to initialize some port mice.
  7. 3) Added support for identifying mouse IRQ for some MS Mouse 9 drivers.
  8. 4) Fixed bug in interrupt 10h, function 13h support if CX=0 or AL>3.
  9. 5) Stopped considering ^ScrollLock to be a form of ^Break for terminating
  10.    scripts and transfers.
  11. 6) Fixed support of /OK switch.
  12. 7) Fixed DV Runtime bug of accessing Switch Windows menu.
  13. 8) Added validation of task handle on following API calls:  PRINTC, START,
  14.    STOP, DISPEROR, PGMINT, POSWIN, GETBUF, POSTTASK, PUTKEY, CSTYLE,
  15.    DISPATCHINT, DISPATCHINTAFTERDOS, SETKEYBOARD, WININFO.
  16. 9) Changed OBJNEXT and WINNEXT error for invalid handle from #1 to #83h.
  17. 10) Changed poking endchar from block (DBh) to block with dot in it (08h).

  19. EGA/VGA drivers:
  20. 11) Removed system memory preallocation when DISPLAY.SYS loaded
  21.  
  22. VGA driver:
  23. 12a) Fixed bug in support of direct DAC twiddlers in direct windows.
  24. 12b) Added support for direct palette twiddlers in direct windows.
  25. 12c) Fixed problems with restoring some weird text modes (Wolfgang's TM
  26.      program).
  27. 12d) Fixed possible problem with saving of palette on mono VGA.

  29. Learn driver:
  30. 13a) Fixed Display Scripts, Load Scripts, Save Scripts inside of a script.
  31. 13b) Fixed nested learns.

  33. Note that numbers 4 through 10 are all rather obscure.

  40. The following are highlights of the changes that have been made between
  41. DESQview versions 2.61 and 2.62:
  42.  
  43. 1) DESQview now supports multitasking while playing audio CDs.
  44.  
  45. 2) Improvements have been made to mouse support a) such that certain port mice
  46.    are initialized properly without a "Revive Mouse", and b) so the mouse IRQ
  47.    can be detected on some systems using Microsoft Mouse Version 9 drivers.

  49. 3) More support has been added for applications that directly manipulate the
  50.    palette registers.
  51.  
  52. 4) Problems with Display-Scripts, Load-Scripts, and Save-Scripts inside of a
  53.    script have been addressed.

  55. Note that numbers 1 and 4 have been the subject of numerous inquires, at least
  56. on the electronic forums that I monitor.

  60. Michael, if you believe that those 4 things are problems that are widely
  61. known, then you should include them in the patch readme.

  63. The part about "DV should be able to detect palette changes [in direct
  64. windows] ..." was not correct until DV 2.62.  --- Larry M.
